Who We Are

Gary Kahn
Gary brings knowledge, experience and passion to Zeitbyte. He has 11 years of experience as an Internet developer focusing on content management using such platforms as Cold Fusion, Vignette, Interwoven and Zope/Plone. At Lehman Brothers he worked on the content mangement team in the e-commerce department.  At John Wiley & Sons he was the technical representative for the ONIX standard of exchanging metadata between book publishers and book sellers (Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, etc.) He worked on the COLTRANE project which was the main repository for over 10,000 of Wiley's journals and books. He was the lead developer for exchanging book data with on-line resellers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.  At Conde Nast he parsed and loaded all the Fodors and Frommers guide books into a database for conceirge.com. While working for NYMEX, Gary developed a system to parse all their commodity data, load it into a database and make the data available on the trading floor - saving hundreds of trees in the process. Gary co-founded Hempseed.com in 1996 and was one of the first community based web sites on the Internet. He ran the free e-mail service and grew it to over 32,000 accounts. When not working, Gary likes to travel, listen to music, eat good food, meet new people and learn new languages.

Kevin Brail
Kevin Brail brings over 10 years of media website and IT experience to the Zeitbyte team. He has extensive experience with coding and project management working with data feeds, video, databases, ecommerce and multiple language sites. Kevin got his professional start in the early 90’s in the print industry working with hi-end photo technology, digital layouts photo retouching. He joined internet startup MediaStream in 1995 as a project manager and front end coder creating dynamic client websites. Some early projects included Cushman & Wakefield, DoubleClick, Princeton Review and Gambling.com. Kevin joined Conde Nast’s interactive team, CondeNet as the production manager for epicurious.com in 1997. The site won several ASME and Webbie awards during his tenure. Kevin joined Dow Jones as the head of project management with Smartmoney.com in 2000 where he oversaw the development of their subscription model site Smartmoney Select as well as developing tools for clients JP Morgan, Chase Bank, Wall Street Journal and Fidelity Investments. Kevin joined Reuters as the Global Head of Product Operations in 2005 before co-founding Zeitbyte.
